Continuing A Great Heritage

Greetings In The Name Of The Lord:

Acts 1:8 New Living Translation (NLT)

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Today we are celebrating 20 years of heritage for the church family known as New LIfe Assembly of God. Established as a new church plant in 1997, this church family began to meet for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission in Morrow County, Ohio. However, that is not where our heritage began. As Dr. William W. Menzies stated in his book, Anointed To Serve, “In 1914, following a period of baffling rejection by all segments of the American church world, with great reluctance, but recognizing the urgency of the task, farsighted men gathered in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to establish a “cooperative fellowship” for the conservation of the work of God. There have been other organizations, as well, that carried a similar burden, and that God has wonderfully blessed, but the Assemblies of God has enjoyed a role of leadership in the American Pentecostal Movement that places it in a strategic position historically” (7-8). For the last twenty years this congregation has taken up that same mantle to bring the Pentecostal witness of Jesus Christ to Morrow County. It has been my great honor to be a part of that heritage, and I look forward to continuing on in that move of God for the next twenty years should the Lord tarry.

In Christ.

Prayerlessness

IMG_1679_edited-1

Greetings In The Name Of The Lord:

James 4:2-3 (NLT)
2  You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3  And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

“The true man of God is heartsick, grieved at the worldliness of the Church…grieved at the toleration of sin in the Church, grieved at the prayerlessness in the Church. He is disturbed that the corporate prayer of the Church no longer pulls down the strongholds of the devil.” (Ravenhill, Leonard).

In Christ,

Pastor Mark
