Greetings In The Name of The Lord:
Haggai 2:9 (NLT)
The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”
Today is a day that I have been waiting for since last June in one sense, but in another sense I have been waiting for this day since July 2007. Since I became Pastor of New LIfe Assembly of God in 2007 it was my vision to see us in a building of our own. When I first came to New Life we were meeting at Mount Gilead High School and it was such a chore to set up and tear down before and after every service. Shortly after my arrival we made the decision to stop holding services at the High School and moved everything back to the storefront at 26 S. Main. In a way that building served us very well, and God did some incredible things in that place. However, the reality is that it was also holding us back. We occasionally got visitors but most of them never returned, and mostly, I think, because of our facilities. Furthermore, there have been so many things we have wanted to do, ministry we wanted to start, but we had no space in which to have it. Several years ago we purchased ten acres of land on U.S. 42, and praise God it is paid for! Yet the reality of being able to afford to build out there was still many years down the road. The problem was that we needed something now! Then something happened last June when I discovered that the old Nazarene church building was up for sale again. When we looked at it we saw two things; how much work it would take, and how much God could do! There is no question that it took a lot of work, and there were many, many obstacles along the way. But our God is able! Today we meet for the first time in our new Sanctuary, and as my friend John Crothers has said for months, “It’s gonna be nice!” Today we thank many people who have helped us get to this point, however, the truth is this was all God’s doing! Without question this is a miracle! That a church of our size and limited resources could pull this off is without a doubt an act of God. Today we thank Him for all that he has done to bring us to this point, and we pledge today to use this building to reach people for him showing them His incredible love. To God be the glory!
