Greetings In the Name of the Lord:
John 4:23-24 (NLT)
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. 24 For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”
The third “W” we live by at New Life stands for the word “worship.” The essence of all we do should revolve around the concept of worship. Unfortunately, most people don’t get the concept of worship. Most people when they think of worship have in their mind the concept of music. However, there is so much more to worship than music, although that concept is certainly a part of worship. In reality, everything we do should be worship. Service is a part of worship. Giving is a part of worship. Reading the Bible is a part of worship. Helping is a part of worship. Teaching is a part of worship. Worship involves giving ourselves over totally to the Lordship of Christ. Notice what Jesus says to the woman at the well. He says, “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” The essence of what Jesus is saying is the totality of worship. Is spirit just in one place? No, spirit is everywhere and at all times. There is totality to worship. Worship is also all out effort. To worship in spirit means to do so with the spiritual drive and ability of one’s soul, seeking the most intimate communion and fellowship with God. Worship was meant to be intimate; to usher us into the very presence of God. It means that we must worship God with everything we have all the time. That means we must give 110% of ourselves to God all the time. It must be a preoccupation and not a pastime.
