Greeting In the Name of the Lord:
Romans 8:37 (NLT)
No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Alright, I have good news and bad news. First, the bad news is that whoever told you that once you became a Christian that all your problems were over lied to you and did you a tremendous disservice. The fact is there will always be problems in this life because we live in a fallen world that is temporarily under the influence of Satan. People will hurt, disappoint, and turn on you for no logical reason. There will be heart ache, sickness, pain, loneliness, and death. There is nothing that you can say or do that is going to change that fact. However, the good news is that the Bible promises us that we will not only survive these hardships of life, but rather that we will transcend them. Paul says, “despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” The phrase that is translated “overwhelming victory” can literally be translated “we triumph overwhelmingly” or “we are super conquerors.” Therefore, we will not only survive the hardships of this life, but we will master them and rise far above them. God has promised us that there is nothing that we should fear because He is always at our side, and with His help there is nothing that we cannot gain the victory over. He has given us all we need to not only survive in this life but to overcome it. Paul confirms this in one of his other letters when he says, “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory” (Col. 3:3-4, NLT). Don’t just be a survivor, but in Christ be an overcomer!
